Year-Round Utility Payment Help (PIPP)
PIPP helps eligible Ohioans manage their utility bills year-round. If your home is heated with gas, you will receive a monthly payment of 5% of your household income for your gas bill, and 5% for your electric. If you heat with electric, you monthly payment will be 10% of your house hold income.
Summer Crisis
The Summer Crisis Program provides a one-time benefit to eligible Ohioans with a member of the household who is at least 60 years old, have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, are trying to establish new service, have physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for their health, or are enrolling in Percentage of Income Payment Plus (PIPP) for the first time or have a PIPP default. An interview is also required for this program.
July 1 - September 30
Winter Crisis
Eligible households can receive up to $175 if they are a client of a regulated utility, or $750 if they are a client of unregulated utilities such as electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. The assistance is applied to their utility bill and/or applied to heating system repair costs. Ohioans must have a gross income at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines to qualify for assistance. Support can be found in up to $1200 for bulk fuels and $650 for firewood.
An interview is also required for this program.
The program runs from November 1, 2023 until March 31, 2024.
